This traditional Welsh lullaby is written simply but beautifully. The notes fall easily under the fingers with repeating motifs.  It works very well as therapeutic music for use in hospices, hospitals, or other settings with its gentle and soothing sound.

This PDF download includes two versions, one in the key of Eb and one in the key of D. This piece can be played on either a lever or pedal harp.  There are no lever or pedal changes. (2 pages for each version)

This song is lovingly dedicated to Macey Elizabeth Paup.  Her family are wonderful friends of ours as we've helped each other through our daughters' challenges dealing with Aicardi Syndrome. At 14 years old, Macey peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family. I wrote this lullaby arrangement for her during her final days.

Level: Early Intermediate

Here are the beautiful words of the song:

Sleep, my child, and peace attend thee
All through the night.
Guardian angels God will send thee
All through the night.
Soft the drowsy hours are creeping,
Hill and dale in slumber sleeping;
I, my loving vigil keeping
All through the night.

Love, fear not if sad thy dreaming
All through the night.
Though o’er cast, bright stars are gleaming
All through the night.
Joy will come to thee at morning,
Life with sunny hope adorning,
Though sad dreams may give dark warning
All through the night.

Hark! A solemn bell is ringing
Clear through the night.
Thou, my love, art heavenward winging
Home through the night.
Earthly dust from off thee shaken,
Soul immortal thou shalt waken,
With thy last dim journey taken,
Home through the night.

  1. I just downloaded my copy of All Through The Night, and of course I had to immediately try to play it. It was written so simply I played through it without any difficulty, and I am not an accomplished harpist. My level is somewhere between Late beginner, and Early intermediate. I would advise everyone to buy and add this song to their repertoire as it is easy to learn, simple to play, yet sounds like an advanced piece.
